The Picture Exchange Communication System® (PECS®) is an evidence-based practice that has been researched since 1994 and continues to have an expanding body of research supporting its effectiveness. Research articles from all over the world about the efficacy of PECS for learners of various ages, diagnoses, and settings have been published in peer-reviewed journals, text books, and professional periodicals.
