Recently, significant criticisms regarding the science of behavior analysis have dominated various social media platforms. Many SLPs have publicly shared their refusal to collaborate with Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs). The purpose of this presentation is to outline criticisms from the literature, as well differences related to the application of the science of behavior analysis. Key behavior analytic terms will be defined. Through understanding the differences and similarities in approaches between speech pathologists and behavior analysts, we can engage in harmonious collaboration. In turn, we provide our learners with the best possible educational experiences ... what all individuals deserve!

Participants Will

  • Define key terms and concepts related to the field of behavior analysis
  • Identify three criticisms associated with the field of behavior analysis
  • Describe three ways to collaborate ethically and effectively
